Cait Halsted

Instructing Team:
APSI Level 4

Where

Cait grew up ski racing in Australia, and started her instructing career in Japan 2017. After getting absolutely hooked on the job and lifestyle, she worked back to back seasons in her home resort, Thredbo Australia, Japan and the US. Cait has taught just about every type of lesson out there, and has enjoyed recently beginning her coaching career with a children’s race program in Thredbo.

Why

Cait was born and spent the first few years of her life in the snowy mountains of Australia, heading back with her ski loving family every season since moving away. She feels a deep connection to the environment and skiing, growing up around and being mentored by so many passionate people. Her love for skiing and getting people stoked through the sport is why she does it.

How

Cait completed her first instructing qualification when she was 17, and after a university break instructing in Niseko, Japan, was hooked. Cait has recently gained her APSI full certification, and has loved gaining experience and training hours with legendary trainers across many systems. Cait’s goal from here is to become an APSI trainer and examiner, she is passionate about broadening the small but growing cohort of female trainers in the Australian system.

Coaching Philosophy

“My main philosophy is to be a day maker.” Whatever someone needs to have the best possible day on the hill, Cait will figure out and try her upmost to make that happen. She prides herself in being adaptive to any client needs, whether it be cruising and gaining confidence on the carpet or ripping it up and attacking steeps.”
