Winter BASI Level 3 & 4 Courses

Our Winter season-long work and train courses allow you to fully immerse yourself into the life of a seasonaire in Zermatt. You will be surrounded by other likeminded people living and working in Zermatt. These programs are focused on preparing you for all the Level 3 and 4 exams whilst building your experience as a ski instructor.

These courses will give you a foot in the door to ski teaching in Zermatt as many trainees are able to secure full time jobs for the season following a training course. We have lived and worked in Zermatt for over a decade so we have the contacts and links to help you succeed.

As well as your on-snow trainers, you will have mentors off the hill who will look after you to make sure you make the most of your time in Zermatt. There will weekly optional activities such as fitness sessions, outdoor sports such as football and the high ropes course, as well as social events such as Escape Rooms, après ski, pool and darts competitions and Fondue nights.

When you book onto a season-long Work and Train course, we can help you discuss your goals for the season. Whether you want to only train, or you want to complete a handful of modules, or your goal is to complete the full ISIA or ISTD by the end of the winter, we will create an action plan specifically for you to help you reach your goals.

About Zermatt

Doing a season in Zermatt is really something special. If this is your first time in Zermatt, you will wonder what on earth took you so long to visit. Zermatt is a lively, vibrant, welcoming and friendly town.

Zermatt doesn’t attract just one type of person, so you will easily find your crowd here. Freeriders, “slopestyle park people”, piste/technical buffs, Live Music enthusiasts, general party animals, yogis, gym-goers…whatever your passion, you will find it in Zermatt.

Training

You will receive around 30 hours of on-snow coaching per week. We spend time ensuring that each course is planned to maximize your professional development, giving you the best possible chance of passing your exams. Training will be varied to give you a well-rounded approach. The bulk of the training will be technical on-piste training to ensure you are up to scratch for your exams.

However, we will also be offering training in a number of other areas from specialist freestyle sessions, GS race training in gates, teaching scenarios, and off-piste training. There is also video feedback, off-snow lectures, weekly fitness sessions, language lessons, and much more! Click on one of our specific courses to see exactly what is included in each one.

All of your training is delivered by BASI Level 4 ISTD Instructors and BASI Trainers. This means that you will receive the highest possible level of training. Our coaches are also experts in other areas, with degrees in subjects such as Psychology, Education or Personal Training qualifications.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation package with the full season-long program, however we work with a number of letting agencies and private apartment owners to ensure that all our candidates are housed for the winter.

Chalet Kamanga

As an example, Chalet Kamanga is one of the apartment options we offer to our season-long trainees. Please note that we are currently agreeing the contracts with the owners of the apartments we will use for 2020-21 and 2021-22, so we cannot 100% confirm the accommodation. But we will be sourcing central, modern apartments with twin bedrooms, for our trainees. In previous years, we have housed trainees in Chalet Soleil and Chalet Kamanga. If you prefer to arrange your own accommodation, please let us know. It is difficult to source seasonal accommodation, but you might have plans to stay with friends in resort.

**Accommodation costs are not included in the Level 3 or 4 Training programme
