Thea Powell

Where

Originally from Melbourne Australia, Thea grew up skiing in the Australian alpine resorts. Since 2012 Thea has chased winters driven by her passion to share her love for skiing and the mountains. Thea has taught in Japan, USA and Australia where she also worked in management in the children’s ski school. 

Why

Some of Thea’s favourite memories are on the slopes. This drives Thea’s passion to introduce and share the love of skiing with others. Providing a safe and fun environment where guests can also create life long memories where they can revisit year after year. Thea loves the beauty of skiing and being one with the mountain although also the social aspect where she has made enduring relationships with guests and peers working in a ski school. 

How

Thea always wanted to become a ski instructor, she doesn’t remember making this decision, she just knew she would. Being outside and in nature is and always will be an integral part of Thea’s life. Since starting her ski instructor journey in 2012 Thea has continued to develop as a ski instructor through the APSI system. Thea  currently holds a level 3 and is currently training and plans to sit her level 4 exam in 2024. 

Coaching Philosophy

I always strive to provide an experience to remember. A welcoming, positive and encouraging environment is a must. I always tailor the lesson to my student. I do so by seeking to understand them and what they would like to take away from their day.

By creating this understanding, I can build trust between myself and my student, which is invaluable to a strong learning environment. This in turn fosters a welcoming environment where you can welcome back your guests like old friends.
